Summary Background
Extensive background in individual, group and family counseling. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with leaders in public, private and non-profit sectors. Successfully designed and implemented innovative programs for community and professional organizations.
Achievements
Created an extensive resource network of professionals and facilities to aide individuals, families and professionals in seeking help for addiction and mental health issues.
- Evaluated the clinical program for the substance abuse division of the Kintock Group. Recognized the deficiencies that existed within the program that did not meet state and federal regulations. Developed and implemented a comprehensive plan that brought the program into compliance which enabled the program to apply for a state drug and alcohol license.
- Created an ongoing group program for Federal pre-release prisoners who were at the last stage of incarceration, home confinement. Prisoners were given specific tasks during these groups that enabled them to role-play and verbalize their feelings as they began re-uniting with their families. Positive feedback verified that this method was productive.
- Created a program and taught prisoners communication and job search skills as they began their re-entry into the community. This was done through verbalization, role-playing and written exercises which helped them to track their progress.
- Extensive experience in counseling individuals and families to recognize and identify issues that are indicative of addictive behavior. Developed skills that help clients engage easily in the therapeutic process.
- Developed and implemented two substance abuse educational programs. The first provided information to help a teaching staff recognize the warning signs for adolescent students who needed to be referred to the Student’s Assistance Program. Teachers were given history forms to complete with students that would enable them to recognize substance abuse issues, personal problems or situations of concern within the student’s family. The second community based program was a workshop for parents and their adolescent children. The workshop focused on recognizing and dealing with substance abuse issues.
- Developed and executed an eight week program to assist clients diagnosed with Fibromylagia (an illness that mimics chronic fatigue syndrome) to recognize their patterns of co-dependency. As a result of the program the clients developed a more independent lifestyle. Results were verified by a questionnaire given before and after the program. A series of aftercare groups was conducted to help maintain their progress. Professional Experince
